Jonah Sermon Series
What most of us know about Jonah is his encounter with a great big fish, but the story behind the story is the astounding love and mercy of God. However, most importantly for us, we also discover God’s patience with a stubborn, flawed, petty, selfish and rebellious prophet who in turn flagrantly disobeys, then obeys half-heartedly; in short someone just like us. The good news is that in the end, God uses Jonah in surprising ways. Perhaps there is hope for us as well!
Like acts in a play, each chapter of Jonah introduces a new theme, which the week’s readings explore.
Week of September 6 – Having God’s heart for those far from God
Week of September 13 – Desiring God
Week of September 20 – Obeying God
Week of October 11 – Sharing God’s love with others
